5k & Family Fun Run

Sun., November 2 - Start and finish at CCM with some laps around the track at the Weems-Whalen Memorial Athletic Fields (behind Maryland Hall). 8:30 am registration; Walk begins at 9 am. $20 for one adult, $10 for second adult. Animal Party

Sunday, November 16: Meet live animals and learn about their care and natural habitats. Girl Scout Brownies and Juniors will fulfill badge requirements. Non-scouts are welcome.
Ages 5 to 12. 9 am - 12 noon. $8 per child. $3 per adult. One adult free with 5 children.

Harvest Hootenanny

Saturday, October 18: Stuff scarecrows, paint pumpkins, take hayrides, and meet some farm animals. Live music with a folk song sing along .A Craft Fair will be held at the same time to give you a head start on gift buying!
10 am - 3 pm. Free with admission. Charge for some activities.

Emancipation Day Event! – “Coming Home to Belvoir – Scott’s Plantation”

Saturday, October 18:  located at 1534 General’s Highway, Crownsville. CCM will present children’s games from the 1800’s at this picnic-style afternoon on the plantation formerly owned by the Maynadiers, grandparents of Francis Scott Key. Belvoir is the location of a large slave quarters recently unearthed by Anne Arundel Archaeologists. Tickets are $25 for adults,$5 for children in 1st-12th grades and can be purchased from the Historical Annapolis Foundation. 410-267-7619.

Friday, Sept.5-Thursday,September 11: Online Donations to CCM for AACares Week: Everyone wins with this friendly competition for online donations to our community’s charities. Your $10 or more donation will help CCM’s chances to come out on top with a $2,500 bonus if we get the most dollars for our budget category (under $100k per year). AND your donations can support CCM in so many ways:

Kunte Kinte Children’s Festival

Saturday September 27th :  10:00am-4:00pm

Travel in your imagination to the childhood home of Kunta Kinte to celebrate the rich cultural heritage of west Africa. CCM will host a festival just for children - and their accompanying grown-ups - to mark the anniversary of Kunta Kinte’s arrival in the year 1767 in Annapolis. Special guest Kwame Ansah-Brew will highlight the live entertainment with “A Journey to Africa” through storytelling and music. Join in making rhythms with drums and shakers. Step to the pulse of the music. You will be able to meet some animals from Africa, make a spirit mask, bottle cap rattle, Adinkra symbol headwrap and other traditional crafts. Free with museum admission. Extra charge for some activities.

Parents and others will discuss progress toward making changes in the public school daily schedules so that high schoolers are not at bus stops as early as 6:05 am.
